New figures show Australia’s unemployment rate has shot to its highest in 12 years, on the back of the biggest single monthly rise since 1990.
Youth unemployment has gone past 20%, while our national unemployment rate is worse than that of the United States for the first time since early 2007.
The Australian petroleum industry is currently building $200 billion worth of new projects; an investment that has already delivered more than 100,000 jobs across the Australian economy.
Yet the industry can do more still. There are tens of billions worth of projects under consideration, that could deliver thousands of new Australian jobs.
