Anti-gas activists are attacking WA’s Environment Minister, Albert Jacob, for refusing to overrule an Independent Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) decision not to assess Buru Energy’s “proof of concept” exploration program in the Kimberley.
The EPA found that Buru’s exploration drilling unlikely to have a significant environmental impact and ruled that existing regulation and monitoring by the Department of Mines and Petroleum to be adequate.
The fact that anti-resources groups don’t agree with the independent umpire’s ruling does not make it wrong.
Send a message to show that you support the Government’s decision to uphold the EPA’s independence and allow Buru’s exploration program to proceed.
Dear Minister,
Thank you for your recent decision to respect the independence of the EPA by upholding its decision regarding Buru Energy’s proof of concept exploration program in the Kimberley.
Exploration is needed to help us realise the potential of natural gas to provide jobs and economic opportunities for local communities and enhanced energy security for our State.
